Bangladesh Election Violence: Just before the general election voting taking place in Bangladesh today, a case of brutal murder of a Hindu youth Ratan Sahukar has come to light in Maulvi Bazaar area. The body of 28-year-old Ratan was found in the tea gardens of Champara area at 10 am on Wednesday. Ratan used to work in this plantation by profession.
When the body was recovered, his hands and legs were tied and there were deep wounds on his body, which were bleeding continuously. Ratan’s colleagues say that it seems to be a premeditated murder. Police have taken the body into their custody and started investigation to find out whether this incident is related to election violence or there is some personal rivalry behind it.
The incident created an atmosphere of fear in Hindu communities
This incident, which happened just a day before the elections, has created an atmosphere of fear and anxiety among the minority community of Bangladesh. Ratan had gone to work in the tea garden as usual, but his dead body was found on Wednesday morning which created a sensation. His companions found him dead, with his hands and legs tied with ropes, making it clear that he was captured and tortured before being killed.
Marks of attack by sharp weapons on the body
According to eyewitnesses and Ratan’s co-workers, his body was hit with sharp weapons. The flowing blood and deep wounds are confirming his brutal murder. Colleagues declared it a murder on the spot and demanded strict action against the culprits.
