Bangladesh burning before elections! Awami League worker murdered in public, blame on BNP-Jamaat

Bangladesh News In Hindi: The deteriorating law and order situation in Bangladesh under the interim government is once again in the news. In the latest development, a case of murder of an Awami League worker by a mob has come to light. This incident has raised serious concerns over the increasing political violence ahead of the electoral process in the country.

According to the Awami League’s media cell, the deceased has been identified as Riyad Hussain, who was associated with the party’s affiliate, the Swayam Sevak League. The party alleges that a mob of activists associated with Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and radical Islamic organization Jamaat-e-Islami suddenly attacked Riyadh. It is alleged that the attackers came riding on motorcycles and without any dispute or provocation, they brutally killed Riyad by attacking him with a knife.

Awami League says that this murder is not the result of any personal rivalry but is a part of planned political violence. According to the party, its aim is to create an atmosphere of fear among Awami League leaders and workers and establish dominance through ‘politics of terror’.

Awami League also issued a strong statement on the social media platform X regarding this matter. The party said that whenever the BNP-Jamaat mob takes to the streets, their aim is to weaken democratic politics, intimidate opponents and shed the blood of common people. The party described the incident as an open message of reactivation of the alleged ‘terrorist network’ of BNP-Jamaat.

Supporters are being selectively targeted

It is noteworthy that since the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government, Awami League has been continuously claiming that its leaders, workers and supporters are being selectively targeted. Even before this, the party had alleged that incidents of violence were taking place against the jailed Awami League leaders and workers.

The Awami League launched a direct attack on the Muhammad Yunus-led interim government, saying incidents of murder, rape, theft, dacoity and looting have increased in the country after its ‘unlawful capture’ of power. The party alleges that the government is resorting to ‘terrorism’ to remain in power, due to which the safety of life and property of common citizens is in danger.
