Bangladesh summoned Indian High Commissioner, expressed concern about the security of embassies
Dhaka. Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Prannoy Verma was summoned to the Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday amid concerns over the security of Bangladeshi embassies in India. According to ‘Dhaka Tribune’ report, Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam summoned the Indian High Commissioner and the Deputy High Commissioner was also present at that time. According to External Affairs Ministry sources, Verma was summoned in view of the security situation arising around Bangladeshi embassies located in different parts of India.
The report said Verma has been requested to strengthen the security of Bangladesh embassies located in different parts of India. This is the second time in the last 10 days that Verma has been summoned to the External Affairs Ministry. During the tenure of the interim government, the High Commissioner has been summoned at least six times in connection with various incidents. Earlier, Verma was summoned to the Ministry of External Affairs on 14 December.
The report said that a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs after that meeting said that India’s cooperation was sought to prevent the attackers who attacked Inquilab Manch convener Sharif Usman Hadi from going to India. Bangladesh requested that if the accused succeed in entering Indian territory, they should be immediately arrested and extradited to Bangladesh.
