Bangladesh Voting 2026: Voting continues for the new government in Bangladesh, Muhammad Yunus and Tariq Rahman cast their votes.
Bangladesh Voting 2026 : Voting for voters started in Bangladesh on Thursday (February 12, 2026). After several years of political turmoil, this parliamentary election is being considered an important test of the country’s democracy. Interim government head Muhammad Yunus arrives at a polling booth in Dhaka to cast his vote. At the same time, BNP chief and Prime Ministerial candidate Tariq Rehman also cast his vote.

The Election Commission has made tight security arrangements, with around 1 million security personnel deployed – the largest ever in the country’s electoral history. Islami Jamaat-e-Islami party chief Shafiqur Rehman cast his vote. A voter looks very happy after casting his vote at a polling booth in Dhaka in the Bangladesh Election 2026. “Our voting day is like Eid. We are all very happy,” he told PTI. In the 13th general elections of Bangladesh, around 13 crore registered voters will elect 299 MPs for 300 parliamentary seats. The election results coming by Thursday night will decide the next Prime Minister.
Three big contenders for the post of Prime Minister
After the coup of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her leaving the country, till now an interim government led by Muhammad Yunus was running in Bangladesh. But, now the neighboring country is going to get a new Prime Minister. Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s son and BNP leader Tariq Rehman is considered to be the biggest contender for this post. At the same time, Jamaat-e-Islami party leader Shifukar Rehman and National Citizens Party (NCP) leader Naheed Islam are also important faces for the post of Prime Minister.
