116 minorities died in Bangladesh in 7 months, big revelation in the report of human rights organization

Bangladeshi Hindus: The Human Rights Congress for Bangladesh Minorities (HRCBM) highlighted increasing attacks on minorities across the country and documented more than 100 deaths over a seven-month period. The rights organization alleged that the violence reflected a nationwide pattern of targeting minorities rather than isolated incidents.

Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council has expressed concern

Earlier on Tuesday, Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, a human rights organization against religious discrimination, expressed deep concern over the increasing attacks on minority communities across Bangladesh. The human rights organization said that as February’s national elections approach in Bangladesh, communal violence is increasing at an alarming rate.

Highlighting the rising atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh last year, the council said in a statement, “In the month of December alone, there were at least 51 incidents of violence. These included 10 murders, 10 incidents of theft and dacoity, 23 cases of occupation, looting and arson of houses, commercial establishments, temples and land, 4 cases of detention and torture on false charges of religious blasphemy and being agents of RAW, 1 of rape.” Attempt, and 3 incidents of physical assault are included.

Council made a shocking revelation

The council revealed that this trend of violence, especially against Hindu minorities, continued in the first week of January, the rights organization elaborated. On January 2, paddy crop was set on fire on 96 decimal land of Satyanarayan Das in Ramgati Lakshmipur. Apart from this, information is coming out that on January 3, businessman Khokan Chandra Das was brutally murdered in Shariatpur, he was chopped and set on fire. The same morning, a robbery took place at the house of Milan Das in Ward No. 4 of Amuchiya Union, Boalkhali Upazila of Chattogram, where all the family members were taken hostage.

What did the council say next? (What else did the council say?)

It further said that on January 4, a gold trader named Shubho Poddar was tied up and about 30 Bhari (about 350 grams) of gold jewelery was looted from his shop. On the same day, a 40-year-old Hindu widow was raped, tied to a tree, her hair was cut and she was severely tortured in Kaliganj, Jhenaidah. Condemning the increase in communal violence, the human rights organization said minority communities across Bangladesh are living in fear and uncertainty about the future.

Violence against minorities, including Hindus, has increased in Bangladesh under the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus, angering people and many human rights organizations around the world.
