After Bangladeshi leader Hasnat Abdullah’s anti-India statement, India’s Foreign Ministry summoned

New Delhi. India’s Ministry of External Affairs on Wednesday summoned Bangladesh High Commissioner M Riaz Hamidullah, expressing concern over the security of the Indian High Commission in Dhaka. This step has been taken after the anti-India statement of National Citizens Party leader Hasnat Abdullah. Abdullah, in a public speech, had threatened to isolate the Seven Sisters and provide sanctuary to separatists from the North-East if Bangladesh became unstable. Abdullah is known for his strong anti-India stance.

Victory Day of Bangladesh was celebrated with a cultural program at the Bangladesh Embassy in Delhi, India. High Commissioner M Riaz Hamidullah stressed Bangladesh’s commitment towards fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Bangladesh, especially the younger generation, and highlighted the country’s young population. Hamidullah stressed that Bangladesh and India have mutually beneficial relations. The focus is on prosperity, peace and regional security. Emphasizing the mutual dependence of the two countries, he underlined the importance of their partnership. He said that the entire Bangladesh and all of us are committed to fulfilling the aspirations of our people, especially the young generation. Our population is very young. We believe that our relations with India are in our common interest. We have mutual dependence. We are completely focused on prosperity, peace and security in the region. The event showcased the rich culture and heritage of Bangladesh, celebrating its liberation and independence. The High Commissioner’s remarks reflect Bangladesh’s commitment to advancing the interests of the people of Bangladesh and strengthening relations with India. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar congratulated Bangladesh. In a post on Twitter, he said he extended best wishes to Foreign Affairs Advisor Mohammad Tauheed Hussain, the interim government and the people of Bangladesh on Victory Day. The Indian High Commission in Bangladesh said that on the 54th anniversary of the liberation war, eight brave liberation warriors and two serving officers of the Bangladesh Armed Forces arrived in India to participate in the Victory Day celebrations in Kolkata on 14 December 2025. Similarly, eight Indian war veterans and two serving officers of the Indian Armed Forces arrived in Dhaka to participate in the Victory Day celebrations of Bangladesh on 15 December 2025.
