New Delhi, 22 October (Hindustan Reporter). The Union Home Ministry has extended the residence permit given to exiled Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen. For this, the writer has expressed gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday.

Taslima Nasreen has been living in India for the last two decades due to threats from Islamic fundamentalists in Bangladesh. Nasreen had requested Amit Shah to extend her residence permit in India through social media on Monday.

Expressing gratitude towards Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Taslima Nasreen shared a post on X on Tuesday in which she used folded hands emoji.

Earlier on Monday, he had also made a post in which he expressed his concern on this issue and described India as his “second home”.

Taslima Nasreen wrote on X on Monday, “Dear Amit Shah ji Namaskar. I live in India because I love this great country. This has been my second home for the last 20 years. But the Home Ministry is not extending my residence permit from July 22.”

He wrote, “I am very worried. I would be very grateful to you if you would let me stay. Best wishes.”
