Bank Holiday: Banks are going to remain closed in Meghalaya tomorrow i.e. on 18th December 2025. Due to the death anniversary of the great Khasi language poet and social reformer U Soso Tham, holiday has been declared in all government and private sector banks in the state. On this day, literary and cultural programs are organized in his memory with reverence and respect in Meghalaya.
If you are planning to complete important bank related work in the month of December, then it is important to check the list of holidays first. Banks will remain closed in Meghalaya on December 18 (Thursday), while the next day on December 19 (Friday), banking services will not be available in Goa on the occasion of Goa Liberation Day.
After this, banks will remain closed on 20th December (Saturday) in Sikkim due to Losung/Namsung festival. There will be a weekly holiday on 21st December (Sunday) and banks will again be closed on 22nd December (Monday) due to Losung/Namsung festival in Sikkim.
There will be bank holidays in many states before and after Christmas. There will be Christmas Eve holiday in Nagaland, Meghalaya and Mizoram on December 24 (Wednesday). After this, banks will remain closed in the entire country on the occasion of Christmas on 25th December (Thursday). At the same time, on 26th December (Friday), banking services will not be available in Nagaland, Meghalaya and Mizoram, due to which banks will remain closed for three consecutive days in these states.
In the last week of the month, banks will remain closed across the country due to 27th December being the fourth Saturday and 28th December being Sunday. Apart from this, banks will remain closed in Meghalaya on 30th December (Tuesday) due to the death anniversary of freedom fighter U Kiang Nangbah. On December 31 (Wednesday), there will be a holiday in banks in Mizoram and Manipur due to New Year Eve and Imoinu Iratpa festival.
However, customers do not need to panic during all these holidays, as net banking, mobile banking and ATM services will continue to operate normally. It would be better to plan in advance for work related to bank branches.
