Banks will remain closed in one state today. Banks will remain closed in Sikkim on Saturday, 20 December 2025. However, banks will remain open in all other states as it is the third Saturday of the month. Banks remain open on the third Saturday.

Banks closed for three consecutive days in Sikkim
Banks will remain closed for three consecutive days in Sikkim on 20th December (Saturday), 21st December (Sunday) and 22nd December (Monday). Banking services will remain closed due to Losung or Namsung festival celebrated by Lepcha and Bhutia communities. This festival marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the Sikkimese New Year. Because of this, bank customers in Sikkim will get a long weekend break.

Bank closed for total 17 days in December 2025
According to the state-wise holiday calendar of 2025-26 of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), public and private banks will remain closed for a total of 17 days in December 2025. This includes all Sundays, second and fourth Saturdays of the month as well as local festival holidays. However, online and digital banking services will continue even during bank closure.
