Bank Holidays January 2026 RBI List Details: The year 2026 is just a few days away. Along with this, the calendar of bank holidays has also been released. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the list of bank holidays for the year 2026 (Bank Holidays January 2026). According to this list, banks will remain closed for a total of 16 days in January 2026.
These holidays will not be held simultaneously in the entire country. Banks will remain closed on different days in different states. Therefore, if you have to do any banking transaction in the month of January, then definitely check the list of bank holidays according to your city.

In January 2026, public and private sector banks will remain closed on various festivals and special occasions. These holidays include New Year’s Day, Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, Bihu, Makar Sankranti, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti and Republic Day.
In some states, due to these holidays, banks may remain closed for two or three consecutive days. Apart from this, banks remain closed on the second and fourth Saturday of every month as well as on all Sundays.

Bank Holidays January 2026
1 January: New Year’s Day and singing. This holiday will be in Aizawl, Chennai, Gangtok, Imphal, Itanagar, Kohima, Kolkata and Shillong.
2 January: New Year Celebration and Mannam Jayanti. This holiday will be in Aizawl, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
3 January: Hazrat Ali’s birthday. This holiday will be in Kanpur and Lucknow.
12 January: Swami Vivekananda Jayanti. This leave will be in Kolkata.

14 January: Makar Sankranti and Magh Bihu. This holiday will be in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati and Itanagar.
15 January: Uttarayan Punyakal, Pongal and Maghi Sankranti. This holiday will be in Bengaluru, Chennai, Gangtok, Hyderabad and Vijayawada.
16 January: Thiruvalluvar day. This leave will be in Chennai.

23 January: Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti, Saraswati Puja and Basant Panchami. This holiday will be in Agartala, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata.
26 January: Republic Day. This holiday will remain in the entire country including Mumbai.
