Bank Holidays This Week: Branches Shut for Four Days in These Cities From July 6 to July 12:

Even in an increasingly digital world, many of us still rely on visiting physical bank branches for critical paperwork, drafts, and locker operations. If you have essential in-branch tasks to finish this week, a little planning is recommended. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) official holiday calendar, private and public sector banks across various states will remain closed for up to four days between July 6 and July 12, 2026. These closures are a combination of regional festivals, regional anniversaries, and standard weekend holidays.

Fortunately, you don’t have to worry about your day-to-day transactions or urgent fund transfers. Essential digital banking channels—including mobile banking, internet banking, UPI apps, ATMs, NEFT, and RTGS systems—will function seamlessly 24/7 throughout the week. Physical branch operations, cash or cheque deposits, and physical demand drafts are the only services that will be paused during these specific holiday dates.

Regional Closures Begin: Bank Holidays on July 6 and July 9

The holiday cycle kicks off on Monday, July 6, with specific closures hitting West Bengal and Mizoram. Branches in Kolkata will remain shut to observe the birth anniversary of Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee. Concurrently, banks in Aizawl will be closed to celebrate Mizo Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl (MHIP) Day. If you live anywhere else in India, your local branches will function as per regular working hours on Monday.

Later in the week, on Thursday, July 9, branches in Shillong, Meghalaya, will lock their doors for the annual Beh Deinkhlam festival. Because this is a deeply rooted local tribal celebration, only bank branches operating in Shillong will close. In contrast, banks across the rest of India will continue to process transactions as usual.

Nationwide Lock: Branches Set for a Two-Day Weekend Closure

The final stretch of the week brings a uniform closure across all states. All public and private sector banks nationwide will observe a mandatory holiday on Saturday, July 11, which marks the second Saturday of the month. Following this, Sunday, July 12, is a standard weekly off. Since counters will be completely closed for two consecutive days, anyone planning to deposit large sums of cash, settle physical cheques, or update bank lockers should ideally complete their work by Friday, July 10.
