Bank Profit Increased: The standalone net profit of HDFC, the country's largest private bank, increased by 2.2 percent on an annual basis to Rs 16 thousand 736 crore in the October-December quarter. In the same quarter last year it was Rs 16 thousand 372.5 crore.

HDFC Bank's earnings have been higher than analysts' estimates. Analysts had estimated a net profit of Rs 16 thousand 650 crore. HDFC has released the results of Q3FY25 i.e. the third quarter of the financial year 2024-25 on Wednesday (January 22).

However, in the December quarter, the total income of the bank increased by 7 percent on an annual basis to Rs 87 thousand 460 crore, whereas in the same quarter last year it was Rs 81 thousand 719 crore. At the same time, the total income in the July-September quarter was Rs 85 thousand 499 crore.

In the December quarter, HDFC Bank's net interest income (NII) grew 8 percent year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 30,690 crore. In the same quarter last year it was Rs 28 thousand 471.3 crore. Interest income was as per estimates.

Gross non-performing assets increased to 1.42 percent (Bank Profit Increased)

The asset quality of HDFC Bank has come under pressure in this quarter. As of December 31, 2024, gross non-performing assets (GNPA) increased to Rs 36,019 crore, up 16 percent from Rs 31,012 crore a year ago. As a result, the GNPA ratio increased by 18 basis points to 1.42 percent from 1.26 percent in the same period last year.
