Banks to remain closed for 4 days this week in many states: October Bank holiday list

New Delhi: With festivals like Durga Puja, Dussehra and Lakshmi Puja lined up in October 2024, it’s important to note that banks in several states will observe holidays for these celebrations and the second and fourth Saturday and every Sunday.

Banks will remain closed for 15 days in different states due to several festivals in October. Some states will see banks remaining closed for four consecutive days for festivals like Dussehra. Banks will remain closed on October 10, 11, 12,and 13 in states, including Tripura, Assam, and West Bengal. In Sikkim, banks will observe holidays on October 11, 12, 13, 14.

October 10: Banks to remain closed in Nagaland, West Bengal, Tripura, Assam on the occasion of Durga Puja/Dussehra (Maha Saptami).

October 11: Banks will be closed in Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Karnataka, Sikkim, Nagaland, West Bengal, and Bihar for Dusshera (Mahashtami/Mahanavami)/Ayudha Pooja/Durga Puja (Dasain) /Durga Ashtami.

October 12: On the occasion of Dasara/Dussehra (Mahanavami/Vijayadashmi)/Durga Puja (Dasain)- and Secind Saturday, Banks will remain closed inall states as is the second Saturday of the month.

October 14: Durga Puja (Dasain) – Banks to observe holiday in Sikkim.

October 16: Banks to remain closed for Lakshmi Puja in Tripura and West Bengal.

October 17: banks to observe holiday in Assam, Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka on the occasion of Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti/Kati Bihu.

October 26: Accession Day – Banks to be closed in Jammu and Srinagar

October 31: Banks to remain closed in most of the states for Diwali (Deepavali)/Naraka Chaturdashi/Kali Puja/Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Birthday/. The banks will remain open on Manipur, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Tripura, and Sikkim.
