Banks will remain closed for so many consecutive days this week, finish your important work immediately
If you have to complete any important bank related work this week, then definitely check this latest holiday schedule before leaving home. According to the holiday calendar of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), this week banks are going to remain closed for three consecutive days in certain areas of the country.
In such a situation, if you have to transact money, get a check cleared, update your KYC or have any other important work related to the bank, then it would be wise to complete it on time. However, the good thing is that despite the bank branches remaining closed, your digital and online services will continue to operate as usual. Let us know when and where banks will remain closed.
When and where will banks be closed this week?
According to the list of holidays of the Reserve Bank, the order of holidays this week is going to be like this:
- 22 July (Wednesday): All government and private banks will remain closed on the auspicious occasion of the famous ‘Kharchi Puja’ in Agartala, the capital of Tripura.
- July 25 (Fourth Saturday): As per the rules of fourth Saturday of the month, all the banks across the country will remain closed on this day.
- 26 July (Sunday): Due to Weekly Off, there will be a holiday for banks across the country.
Thus, banks will remain closed for the people of Tripura for three consecutive days i.e. 22nd, 25th and 26th July. At the same time, in the rest of the states of the country, no work will be done in bank branches for two consecutive days on 25th and 26th July.
What is the famous ‘Kharchi Puja’?
The main reason for bank closure in Tripura is ‘Kharchi Puja’, a big traditional festival there. This festival is mainly celebrated to worship Chaturdash Devta i.e. fourteen gods and goddesses and Mother Earth. This festival continues with great pomp and show for about a week and it starts every year on the Ashtami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Ashadh month. Keeping this historical and cultural importance in mind, RBI has declared July 22 as a bank holiday in Agartala region.
Banks will remain closed, but digital services will remain operational
If your bank branch is closed, then you do not need to worry at all. Despite the physical closure of the bank, your digital banking services will continue to work 24 hours a day without interruption as before.
You can easily avail all the facilities like UPI, Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, NEFT, RTGS and IMPS sitting at home. Apart from this, the facility of withdrawing cash from ATM in case of need of money will also remain operational as usual.
How will be the condition of banks next week?
If we look at the official holiday calendar of RBI, there is no special or regional bank holiday in any state between July 27 and August 2. During this period, there will be a weekly holiday only on Sunday, August 2, whereas on all the remaining days, all the banks across the country will remain open normally and the functioning will continue smoothly.
