Man United transfer news: Barcelona chief Deco speaks out about potential Marcus Rashford move

Barcelona sporting director Deco speaks out amid reports the club are interested in signing Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United.

Barcelona sporting director Deco has spoken out amid reports that Marcus Rashford‘s entourage has met with club officials in Lisbon.

Facing Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday evening, Deco was with the squad, and reports have suggested he also met with Rashford’s team, in the hope of striking a deal over a loan move this month.

Rashford appears to have no future at Manchester Unitedfollowing comments he made last month suggesting he wants a new challenge away from Old Trafford.

New manager Reuben Amorim has also left the former England international out of the matchday squad in eight of the last nine matches, while he was an unused substitute against Newcastle United.

Deco drops possible hint over Rashford move?

Speaking prior to Barca’s incredible 5-4 win over Benfica, Deco said the current focus within the club is on extending the deals of their current players, despite Toni Juanmarti claiming he met with Rashford’s representatives.

The club has been mired in unwanted headlines this month, particularly surrounding the contract of Dani Olmowho was initially unable to be registered before an appeal was lodged.

However, the former Portugal international did not rule out the possibility of further reinforcements this month.

Deco said: “We have our priorities and if we can renew the contracts of the players we have now and if we can bring in other reinforcements, that would always be welcome.”

The Barca director did appear to shut down claims that Rashford is a priority this month, and his £350,000-per-wages would be unaffordable for the club in their current predicament.

“The coach is happy with the squad we have, so any future decisions will be later.” Deco revealed.

Mass exodus to take place at Man United?

Rashford could be one of three attacking players to leave Old Trafford before the deadline in just under two weeks.

Along with persistent rumours around Rashford’s future, Antony is all set for a move to Real Betis, while Alejandro Garnacho could also depart.

Reports have suggested that Napoli could be in talks over a move for Garnacho, while the player was present at Chelsea’s Premier League fixture with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday.

All three players are unlikely to feature in Man United’s Europa League clash with Rangers on Thursday, with Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes‘ the preferred options in wide areas under Amorim.
