Bareilly: BJP MLA Dr. Shyam Bihari Lal passes away, heart attack in minister’s meeting
Bareilly, 2 January. Very sad news came out from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh on Friday, when during an important meeting of Livestock Minister Dharampal Singh at the Circuit House, BJP MLA Dr. Shyam Bihari Lal suffered a heart attack and despite many efforts, he could not be saved.
Dr. Shyam Bihari had celebrated his 60th birthday a day earlier.
Dr. Shyam Bihari Lal, the popular MLA from Faridpur, had celebrated his 60th birthday with great pomp a day earlier (January 1), but see the cruel game of destiny, death embraced him the very next day. His demise spread a wave of mourning in political circles.
The heart-wrenching incident occurred when Livestock Minister Dharampal Singh was holding an important meeting with officials and leaders at the Circuit House. MLA Shyam Bihari Lal was also involved in this discussion. At around 2.15 pm, his health suddenly deteriorated and he became uncomfortable in the chair itself. There was chaos in the meeting hall and the colleagues present there immediately took him to Medicity Hospital. Doctors put him on ventilator, but despite all efforts, he breathed his last at around 3 pm.
CM Yogi expressed deep grief
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep grief over the demise of Dr. Shyam Bihari Lal and called it an irreparable loss for the party and society. CM Yogi wrote in his ex-post, ‘The sudden demise of Honorable MLA Dr. Shyam Bihari Lal ji from Faridpur assembly constituency of Bareilly district is very sad. Humble tribute. My condolences are with the bereaved family. It is a prayer to Lord Shri Ram to grant the departed saint a place at his feet and the bereaved family members the strength to bear this immense sorrow.

The battle for breath lasted for an hour
According to the information received, by the time he reached the hospital, the condition of the BJP MLA had become very critical. Doctor Vimal Bhardwaj of Medicity Hospital said that when he was brought complaining of severe chest pain, his BP and pulse were not working. The medical team gave CPR to save him and tried continuously for about an hour. He was also given ventilator support, but the heart attack was so severe that he could not be saved.
As soon as the news of his demise was received, all the big leaders and officials including DM Avinash Singh, SSP Anurag Arya and MP Chhatrapal Gangwar reached his residence and hospital.
Journey from professor to public servant
Dr. Shyam Bihari Lal was not only a politician but also a scholar. Shyam Bihari Lal, born on January 1, 1966 in Shahjahanpur, was a professor by profession. He was the head of the department of ancient history and culture at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly. Apart from this, he was also the director of Panchal Museum. His stature in politics was very high. He had won the Faridpur reserved seat for the first time in 2017 on a BJP ticket and reached the Assembly again in 2022 by winning the trust of the public. He is survived by his wife Manju Lata, a son and two daughters, who are in bad condition after crying.
