Bareilly’s SIM racket reaches abroad! Police set out to break the backbone of cyber thugs, 5 FIRs registered

Bareilly Cyber Fraud: Bareilly Police has now started taking strict action to break the back of cyber criminals. Police clearly say that there are three most important requirements of cyber fraud such as data, bank account and mobile SIM. If these three thugs do not reach out, then cyber crime will automatically stop. Under this strategy, Bareilly Police has intensified the campaign against those selling fake SIMs.

5 different FIRs registered

On Friday, Bareilly Police has registered an FIR against five SIM sellers in five different police stations. These SIM cards were being used for cyber fraud in South-East Asian countries like Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos. This special campaign is being run on the instructions of SSP Anurag Arya.

How did you get the information?

Police had received information from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C) that some mobile numbers purchased from Bareilly had been used in cyber frauds in different states of the country. After receiving the report, the concerned police stations started investigation, which revealed that the SIM sellers had issued SIMs on the basis of fake documents.

This is how the action took place

The first FIR was registered against Ashok, resident of Employee Nagar Sai Dham Colony of Premnagar police station area. The second FIR was written in Baradari police station against Harvendra Singh, Raj Aggarwal, Anmol Ratna, Subhash Chandra and Krishna Kant, residents of Ashish Royal Park. The third FIR has been registered against Sachin Kumar, resident of Saidapur, Faridpur, the fourth, Harishankar, resident of Khajuria Sampat of Bhuta police station area and the fifth, against Ravi and Umesh of Kyoladiya police station area.

Initial investigation by the police has revealed that the accused deliberately issued SIMs on fake documents, which were used by cyber thugs to defraud people.

How to become a victim of fraud

According to cyber expert Neeraj Singh, such SIMs are used in two ways. First, by sending the SIM abroad and making calls through international roaming. The second and more commonly used method is to buy a SIM in India itself, activate WhatsApp by taking its OTP and cheat with it. Due to it being an Indian number, people easily fall into the trap.
