New Delhi: Barroz: Guardian of Treasures garnered massive buzz on social media prior to its release. Expectations were riding high for the fantasy film and exceptional Box Office numbers were anticipated. However, this was not the case upon its theatrical outing. Within a month of Mohanlal’s directorial debut hitting the silver screen, it is already available for viewing on OTT.
Disney+ Hotstar Malayalam on Thursday (January 16, 2025), took to Instagram to reveal that the movie will soon make its digital debut. Later, it was disclosed that the flick is scheduled to be released on the digital platform on Wednesday (January 22, 2025) in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada languages.

So, fans can now head to Disney+ Hotstar to stream Barroz: Guardian of Treasures. With a runtime of two hours and 34 minutes, it is now available on the OTT giant.
Barroz: Guardian of Treasures plot
The plot of Barroz: Guardian of Treasures revolves around a loyal mystical guardian who has awaited the true heir to Vasco da Gama’s treasure for 400 years. The storyline intensifies when a girl from the bloodline finally arrives.
Alongside the 64-year-old actor, the film reportedly also featured Maya Rao West, Cesar Lorente Raton, Ignacio Mateos, Kallirroi Tziafeta, Nerea Camacho and Tuhin Menon in important roles. It has been produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the Aashirvad Cinemas banner.
The movie is believed to be based on Jijo Punnoose’s novel Barroz: Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure. It was released in theaters on December 25, 2024, on the joyous occasion of Christmas.
Barroz: Guardian of Treasures failed to make a significant impact at the Box Office. According to Sacnilk, it managed to rake in only Rs 9.83 crore in India across languages. The industry tracker further stated that the worldwide collection of the flick was Rs 15.1 crore. Now, it will be interesting to see what kind of response Barroz: Guardian of Treasures garners from OTT viewers.
