Basit Ali hails Indian bowlers, puts them on par with Akram, Younis, and Akhtar

Former player Basit Ali has lauded the Indian bowlers and kept them on the same level with Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Shoaib Akhtar. He commented after India’s win over Bangladesh in the first Test in Chennai.

The visitors were bowled out for 149 and 234 runs across both innings to lose the game by 280 runs.

The wickets were taken by the pacers and the spinners. India’s fast bowlers dismissed eight out of 10 batters in the first innings, while the spinners amassed nine out of the 10 scalps in the second essay.

‘Indian bowlers are on the same level with Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar, and Waqar Younis. Mohammed Shami is not playing at the moment,” Basit Ali said.

Basit wants to see Mayank Yadav’s bowling against Australia.

“He is a dangerous bowler, and I want to see him playing a Test match in Australia,” he added.

Mayank’s express pace caught the eye of everyone in IPL 2024, but he lasted for just four games before injuring himself.

The second Test against Bangladesh will be played in Kanpur from September 27. India will then take on New Zealand in three Tests before traveling to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
