Bassist Mohini Dey denies rumours amid divorce- The Week

Amid divorce between AR Rahman and Saira Banu, the musician’s bassist Mohini Dey has addressed the rumours about link-up. This comes following the announcement of her own divorce from Mark Hartsuch.

The bassist who worked with Rahman for more than eight years said Rahman is like a father to her.

Pointing out that she got time to address the rumours as her tour got completed, Mohini said Rahman’s daughters and she are of the same age.

In the video, she wrote in the caption, “It is utterly unbelievable to see the amount of misinformation and baseless assumptions/claims against me and @arrahman.”

She said it is disheartening that people have no respect, sympathy or emphathy, adding that, “I honour my times as a kid working with @arrahman throughout my 8.5 years of working with him for his movies, tours, etc.”

Mohini went on to say that it feels criminal that the media has vulgarised the two events.

Calling AR Rahman a legend, she said she has many role models and father figures who helped in her career and upbringing.

“To name a few- My dad who taught me everything music (who I lost a year ago) and then @ranjitbarot1 who introduced me to the industry, @louizbanksofficial who shaped me & @arrahman who gave me the freedom to shine in his shows and his musical arrangements during recording sessions,” she explained.

Mohini said the media and paparazzi do not understand how such gossips ruin people’s minds and lives. “Be sensitive. I dont owe anyone any explanations but also I dont want this to brew and interrupt my day. So kindly stop with the false claims & Respect our privacy,” she concluded.

Hours after Rahman and Saira Banu announced their divorce, Mohini said she is splitting from her husband, Hartsuch, following which the timing of the two announcements sparked the allegations.
