New Delhi: The impact of increasing tension between America, Israel and Iran in West Asia is now being felt in India also. Vigilance has been increased in various areas in view of possible disruption in the supply of petroleum and LPG.
Discussion regarding IPL 2026
According to IPL Governing Council Chairman Arun Dhumal, the current situation is being constantly monitored. He said that if the situation changes, the league’s plans will be amended appropriately.
Arun Dhumal’s statement
Dhumal clarified that the current situation is changing rapidly, so it is too early to reach any final decision. He said that the league management keeps an eye on every development and appropriate decisions will be taken at the right time. At present the situation is being reviewed and all aspects will be discussed.
impact of west asia conflict
The ongoing conflict between America, Israel and Iran is having a negative impact on energy supply. Because of this, concern has increased regarding the availability of LPG and petroleum products. Many hotel owners in Bengaluru and Chennai said that they have only one or two days of LPG stock left. Some hotels have also changed their menus to reduce gas consumption.
Discussion on IPL schedule
The IPL 2026 schedule has not been announced yet, but there is speculation that it could start from March 28. The Board of Control for Cricket in India is busy finalizing the upcoming schedule so that there is no conflict with the elections to be held in some states. However, if there is any problem in energy supply or logistics, it could also impact the IPL.
Teams started training camps
Meanwhile, preparations for IPL are continuing. Many franchises like Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings have started their training camps. Chennai’s camp has recently been going on at the team’s High Performance Centre, where around ten players are practicing every day. On the other hand, Punjab Kings have organized a training session in Dharamshala, in which many players participated.
Government Initiatives
Keeping this in mind, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has directed refineries to increase LPG production. The ministry has decided to give priority to domestic consumers and a gap of 25 days has been fixed between booking of gas. Important areas like hospitals and educational institutions are being given priority. The decision on supplies to hotels and other industries will be taken by a special committee.
Prime Minister Modi’s emergency meeting
To deal with this crisis, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has held an emergency meeting with the Petroleum and Foreign Ministers. The government has implemented ESMA to ensure adequacy of cylinders for domestic customers, to cut down on industrial supplies and to reduce resentment among the general public.
Shortage of supply to industrial units
The Government of India has attempted to control domestic LPG cylinder shortage by implementing the Essential Services Management Act (ESMA). The primary focus of the government is to deliver gas to the homes of citizens. Under this law, it has been ensured that domestic consumers get a major share of the gas available in the market. Keeping the shortage in mind, the supply to industrial units has been reduced.
