BCCI will have to change a big rule, due to Jasprit Bumrah there will be a change of Rs 2 crore in the central contract.

BCCI Players Central Contract: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made a major change in the central contract for the year 2025-26 and decided to abolish the A+ category. Earlier, this category included players who played in all three formats (Test, ODI and T20). Last time it included Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja. Now Kohli and Rohit are playing only in ODIs, while Jadeja is active in Tests and ODIs. Bumrah is the only player to play in all three formats.

Bumrah is suffering losses

BCCI used to pay Rs 7 crore annually to the players included in A+ category. Now after the removal of the category, Bumrah has been kept in A category, in which the annual salary is Rs 5 crore. Due to this, Bumrah is incurring a loss of Rs 2 crore. The board is now considering to compensate for this loss as Bumrah is performing brilliantly in all three formats. According to sources, BCCI is considering that it would not be right to reduce his fee from Rs 7 crore to Rs 5 crore. For this, changes in the central contract are possible.

Akshar Patel case

Similar is the case of Akshar Patel also. He is performing well in the limited overs format and is also a part of the Test team, but he has been placed in Grade C, in which players get Rs 1 crore annually. For this reason, improvement in their salary may also be considered.

Grade B consists of 11 players, while Grade C consists of 16 players. BCCI has not yet made public the complete information about the money received by players in each category. However, after the reduction in the salaries of Bumrah and Akshar Patel, the board may make an announcement on this soon.
