BCCI comes into action mode after defeat by England-Ireland, calls high-level review meeting

New Delhi: Team India is currently badly stuck on the foreign tour. The team captained by Shreyas Iyer has not won a single match against Ireland and England so far. After losing 2 matches to Ireland and 3 matches to England, BCCI has decided to take action. Being the current T20 World Cup champion, there were a lot of expectations from the team, but after consecutive defeats, the board has decided to call a review meeting.

BCCI will review after the tour is over

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia made it clear that the review meeting will be held only after the tour. Speaking to Sportstar he said, "The team is going through a bad phase, so after the tour is over we will definitely have a review meeting to understand what is going wrong." According to sources, there will be talks with captain Shreyas Iyer and head coach in this meeting. The focus of the discussion will be on the reasons for the team’s defeat.

What issues will be discussed in the review?

1. Team selection: whether the combination was right or not
2. Strategy: Gameplan and its execution on foreign pitches
3. Preparation for T20 World Cup 2026: Where does the team need improvement

The board wants the weaknesses of the team to be removed before the 2026 World Cup.

Shreyas Iyer admitted his mistake

After the defeat in the fourth T20I against England, captain Shreyas Iyer himself admitted that the team could not execute the strategy properly. After the match he said, "When we came to bowl, I told the bowlers to bowl the same length. It was difficult to score boundaries on middle and leg stump. But I think we couldn’t stick to the plan."

Iyer further said, "When we changed the tempo or tried something different, they scored runs on those bad balls." It is clear from the captain’s statement that the team lagged behind in execution.

What next? last chance in southampton

The series is out of hand, but India still has one match left. Both the teams will face each other on July 11 at the Rose Bowl, Southampton. The ‘Men in Blue’ would like to end the tour with a consolation win in this match. Fans also hope that the team will make a respectable comeback. BCCI’s review is certain after consecutive defeats. Now it remains to be seen what changes the team management makes after the meeting.
