Gambhir may face blame before Border-Gavaskar Trophy, BCCI asks sharp questions to Rohit, Agarkar and Gautam
sports desk : BCCI has brainstormed after the defeat against New Zealand. The defeat was reviewed, in which many aspects were discussed. BCCI held discussions with captain Rohit Sharma, selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir. In which selection of 'Rank Turner' for Mumbai Test, giving rest to Jasprit Bumrah and coaching style of Gautam Gambhir were discussed. BCCI Secretary Jai Shah and President Roger Binny were also present in this review meeting.
During this, tough questions were raised about the coaching style of Gautam Gambhir. Gautam Gambhir's coaching is completely opposite to Rahul Dravid's. Questions were also asked about how the team is adopting it. A senior BCCI source associated with the matter told PTI on condition of anonymity, “It was a six-hour marathon meeting which was scheduled after such a defeat. The Indian team is going on a tour of Australia and the BCCI would like to ensure that the team gets back on track. Also he would like to know what the think-tank (Gambhir-Rohit-Agarkar) are thinking about this.”

It has been revealed in this meeting that BCCI officials are not happy with the reason why fast bowler and team vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah was given rest in the third test. Why did you choose this kind of wicket in Mumbai even after losing on a rank turner in Pune? All these issues were discussed.
The three were asked to suggest how corrective measures could be taken. It cannot be confirmed whether Gambhir's coaching style was questioned or not, but it is understood that some people in the 'think tank' of the Indian team are not on the same page with the head coach.
T20 specialist all-rounder Nitish Reddy and new fast bowler Harshit Rana, who has played only 10 matches in Ranji Trophy, have not been selected unanimously. The Indian team will leave for Australia in two contingents on 10 and 11 November.
