Before the final of IPL 2026, BCCI has implemented new strict rules for players and match officials. Following the advice of the Anti Corruption Unit, the use of smart sunglasses has been completely banned.
BCCI announced strict rules: IPL 2026 has now reached its final stage and only two matches are left in the tournament. Qualifier-2 will be played on Friday, while the final match of this season will be held on Sunday. Royal Challengers Bangalore have already made their place in the finals and now all eyes are on the other finalist team. Meanwhile, BCCI has implemented a new strict rule for players and match officials, which has suddenly caught everyone’s attention.
In fact, BCCI has completely banned the use of smart sunglasses before the remaining matches of IPL. This decision has been taken after the advice of BCCI’s Anti Corruption Unit. The board has issued an advisory to all the franchises and match officials and made it clear that no player or support staff will be allowed to wear smart sunglasses during the match.
BCCI: Ban on smart sunglasses
In the advisory issued by BCCI, it has been said that many companies were providing smart sunglasses with advanced features to the players and support staff. These sunglasses have features like live streaming, text messaging, calling and internet connectivity. This is the reason why the Anti Corruption Unit considered it a security threat and recommended its immediate ban. Now their use will be completely banned during the match.

BCCI: Action has already been taken against Rajasthan Royals official
Earlier, Rajasthan Royals official Romi Bhinder was caught on camera using a mobile phone in the dugout during a match. After that incident, BCCI had imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him and also given him a warning. Now the board has made the rules more strict and made it clear that players will have to submit smart sunglasses along with their phones during the match. Strict action will be taken against those who break the rules.
BCCI: Rules have been issued earlier also regarding security
Even before this, BCCI has taken many strict steps regarding the safety of players and anti-corruption protocol. Some time ago, there were reports that family members and acquaintances of the players were reaching the hotel, due to which there was a fear of increasing dangers like honey trap. After this, the board also implemented strict guidelines regarding hotel security and movement of players. Besides, the players were also stopped from going out late at night without permission. Now by banning smart sunglasses, BCCI has given a clear indication that any kind of carelessness will not be tolerated before the final.
