BCCI State A Championship: A big news related to Indian domestic cricket has come to light during IPL 2026. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is going to make changes in the domestic cricket structure. According to reports, BCCI is working on starting a new T20 tournament. However, this T20 tournament will replace the tournament played in 50 over format. That is, this step is being taken in the direction of making the players compatible with the fast pace and modern demands of T20 cricket.
BCCI is going to start a new T20 tournament
The Board of Control for Cricket in India is planning to change the U-23 men’s white-ball competition from 50-over format to T20 format. This tournament is called State A Championship, which is played in 50 over format. Which will now be organized as a T20 tournament. According to sources, this change may be implemented from the next domestic season. However, no formal information in this regard has been sent to the state associations yet.
It is believed that this decision of BCCI is being taken keeping in mind the changing needs of Indian cricket. Due to which, in T20 format, young players will get more match practice, opportunity to play big shots and experience of playing under pressure, which will prove helpful in their development at the international level also. At present, like senior tournaments, this tournament is played in two categories – Elite and Plate. Tamil Nadu is the current champion in the elite category. At the same time, Meghalaya had won in the Plate Championship last year.
But Vaibhav Suryavanshi will not be able to play!
According to the rules, only players up to 23 years of age are able to play in this tournament. In such a situation, Vaibhav Suryavanshi will be eligible for this tournament, because at present he is only 15 years old. But let us tell you that junior level tournaments are often played along with senior level tournaments. In such a situation, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is already a part of the senior team of Bihar. Due to which it will be difficult for him to be selected for this tournament.
