BCCI is not happy with this decision of Sanju Samson, can take this big step

Sanju Samson: Sanju Samson had decided to skip Kerala's three-day Vijay Hazare Trophy practice camp in Wayanad in December due to personal reasons. Because of this, Kerala Cricket Association had dropped him from Vijay Hazare Trophy. Meanwhile, Samson's decision to leave the Vijay Hazare Trophy has not been liked by the BCCI officials and selectors.

BCCI can take this big step

According to a Times of India report, BCCI is planning to investigate why Sanju Samson, who played 16 ODIs and 37 T20 Internationals, did not participate in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Samson has been selected for the five-match T20 series against England, which starts on January 22 in Kolkata.

A BCCI source told Times of India, β€œThe selectors and the board are very clear about the importance of domestic cricket. Last year, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer lost their contracts for not playing domestic matches without permission. In Samson's case too, no reason was given to the board and selectors as to why he could not play the tournament.

Last ODI match was played in 2023

Samson, who has scored three centuries and two zeroes in his last five T20 matches for India, last played an ODI against South Africa in December 2023. He batted at number 3 in that match and scored 108 runs in 114 balls with the help of six fours and three sixes. If Samson misses out on a place in the Indian team, then Dhruv Jurel or Ishan Kishan can be selected as the second wicketkeeper in the Champions Trophy.
