BCCI becomes strict after defeat from Pakistan, summons Under-19 captain Ayush Mhatre and coach Hrishikesh Kanitkar
India-Pakistan match Be it at the senior level or the Under-19 level, defeat always leaves deep questions. But when there is a crushing defeat of 192 runs on a big stage like the final, then not just the result but the entire strategy and leadership comes into question. This is the reason why the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s anger has come out openly after losing the final to Pakistan.
According to reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), not considering this defeat as normal, has decided to seek answers from both the captain and coach of the Under-19 team. The board believes that despite excellent performance in the tournament, such collapse in the final is a serious warning for future preparations.

Captain and coach summoned
According to the report of Cricbuzz, there was a long discussion on this defeat in the Apex Council meeting of BCCI. It was decided in the meeting that an explanation would be sought from Under-19 team captain Ayush Mhatre and head coach Rishikesh Kanitkar regarding the defeat in the final.
Why so much anger?
This was India’s only defeat in the entire tournament, but the margin of defeat was very big. The board members believe that even in age-group cricket, there is an expectation from India that the team should not break under pressure. Especially when the team had defeated Pakistan in the group stage.
Why ‘review’ unusual at under-19 level?
According to the report, such in-depth reviews are rarely seen in Under-19 or junior cricket. But BCCI is looking at linking it with the Under-19 World Cup to be held in January-February 2026. The board wants to correct any strategic or mental weakness in time.
Pakistan’s batting: the match turned here
Pakistan batted first and completely captured the final. Opener Sameer Minhas set the tempo right from the beginning. He converted every loose ball into a boundary and never allowed the Indian bowlers to settle into a rhythm.
Historic innings of Minhas
Sameer Minhas completed his century in just 71 balls and scored 172 runs in 113 balls. Power, timing and match awareness were clearly visible in his innings. Thanks to Ahmed Hussain’s 56 runs and important partnerships, Pakistan scored a huge score of 347/8.
India’s bright start, then sudden collapse
While chasing the target, India made a stormy start. Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 21 runs in the first over itself. The run rate remained above 10 for a few overs, but as soon as the first wickets fell, the entire batting disintegrated.
Batting scattered in front of pace attack
From one wicket for 49 runs, India suddenly lost three wickets for 49 runs. Pakistan’s tall fast bowlers bowled continuously on hard lengths. Vedant Trivedi, Kanishk Chauhan and Abhigyan Kundu returned to the pavilion early. The team could not recover from the pressure.
Plunged in 26.2 overs, now time to answer
The Indian team was all out for just 156 runs in 26.2 overs. This was the moment which forced BCCI to intervene. Now the board wants to know from the captain and coach where mental fragility, strategy and team management went wrong in a big match like the final.
