BCCI took a big step before IPL 2026, canceled the opening ceremony program
Desk. A big update has come out before the start of the 19th season of IPL. This season is going to start from March 28. But just two days before the start of the tournament, BCCI has decided that the opening ceremony will not be organized in this IPL season. According to media reports, this time BCCI has decided not to hold the opening ceremony. This clearly means that there will be no celebration of any kind before the match between RCB and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Every season, an opening ceremony is organized before the opening match of IPL, in which star actors, singers and dancers perform. Let us tell you why the board has taken this decision this time. In fact, in the year 2025, the RCB team won the first title, ending the drought of 17 years. To celebrate this win, RCB had organized a grand program at Chinnaswamy. There was a stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium while celebrating the victory.
11 innocent people lost their lives in the stampede. There was a lot of uproar regarding this. This time, BCCI has decided to keep silence before the opening match on behalf of RCB to pay tribute to the 11 people who lost their lives in that stampede, while 11 seats in the stadium will remain vacant forever in their memory. According to the information revealed in a report of Times of India, due to this accident, this time BCCI has decided to cancel the opening ceremony. Last year, the opening ceremony was held on the grounds of Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
The first match of IPL 2026 will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. On March 28, the teams of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad will face each other on this ground. Bengaluru will enter the field with the intention of defending its title this season. Whereas Sunrisers Hyderabad team will be eyeing its second title this season. RCB won its first title by defeating Punjab Kings in the final last season.
