Music holds a special place at the Taj Falaknuma Palace that goes from dawn to dusk. After her musical evening, her morning was welcomed with a sweet serenade as well. Only this time, it was not Sufi music but classical tunes played on the sitar. Horse-drawn carriages bring guests to its white marble Palladian facade, where they enter the reception hall and are showered with rose petals and jasmine garlands. An Italian marble fountain, painted ceilings, and stained glass windows featuring medieval and Tudor royalty greet the guests at the entrance.

Set in more than 14 hectares of gardens, the rooms of the former harem quarters are now covered with curtains, four-poster beds draped in brocade, and sink-in sofas piled high with silk cushions. Dressing rooms open into art deco bathrooms with mirrored walls that gleam like diamonds from the chandeliers over large Edwardian tubs.

In addition to the glorious interior, the music at the palace plays a huge role in engaging guests. Every evening, a Sufi qawwali performance takes place at the Gol Bungalow. Dressed in white Pathani suits and topis, the Rajab Ali group take the stage and sets off through their music. Their deep voices and pastoral charm melt away all the urban stress and related maladies of the watchers. Some say that the singers also take song requests towards the end of the performance and perform recent songs with a Qawwali touch.
