Bengal Election 2026: Mission 160 in Mamata’s stronghold. BJP has prepared the list of 200 seats, will TMC lose sleep over ABC plan?
News India Live, Digital Desk: Even before the bugle of 2026 assembly elections in West Bengal, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has activated its ‘masterplan’. BJP has set the target of ‘Mission 160’ to demolish the fort of Mamata Banerjee’s ‘Maa Mati Manush’. According to sources, the party has identified around 200 seats out of 294 seats in Bengal, where it is going to put all its strength. BJP’s ‘ABC’ formula: Understand the strategy BJP has divided the seats of Bengal into three categories based on their winning probability: A-Category (77 seats): These are the seats where BJP had won in 2021. Here the party is focusing on strengthening its hold. B-Category (50-60 seats): These are the seats where BJP stood second and the margin of defeat was very less. Special social engineering is being done on these seats. C-Category (about 50 seats): These are the seats where the party will have to work hard strategically. SIR and the issue of ‘fake voters’BJP leaders, especially Shubhendu Adhikari, claim that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) being conducted by the Election Commission has removed lakhs of fake names from the voter list of Bengal. Hit on the vote bank: BJP believes that Withdrawal will affect TMC’s ‘vote bank’. Effort to reduce the difference: There was a difference of about 40 lakh votes between BJP and TMC in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. BJP aims to bridge this gap and get an additional 3.5% vote share. Key Issues: Corruption, Infiltration and Women’s Safety BJP is going to weaponize these three big issues in the 2026 elections: Corruption: Alleged scams in Jal Jeevan Mission, PM Awas Yojana and ration distribution will be taken to the public. Infiltration: Changes in demography and illegal infiltration in border areas will be linked to security. Women’s safety: Incidents like Sandeshkhali. An attempt will be made to attract women voters by mentioning TMC’s counterattack: “BJP will not even cross the 50 mark.” On the other hand, Trinamool Congress (TMC) has termed these claims of BJP as baseless. TMC leaders say that Amit Shah and Modi come like ‘political tourists’, but the people of Bengal trust only Mamata Banerjee. TMC has claimed that BJP will not be able to cross even the 50 seats mark in 2026.
