Bengal Election Survey Report: BJP’s leap in the North, TMC’s dominance in the South
Kolkata. Before the West Bengal Assembly elections 2026, latest opinion polls have heated up the political atmosphere. According to the report, this time the state seems to be clearly divided into four zones. BJP’s lead is clearly visible in North Bengal, while TMC’s dominance remains in South Bengal and Kolkata.
North Bengal: BJP strong, TMC backward
BJP’s position in Malda, Cooch Behar, Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri has improved since 2021. The resentment of the tea garden workers and the support of the Rajbanshi community seems to be in favor of BJP. According to the survey, BJP may win 38 to 41 seats here, while TMC may have to struggle.
South Bengal and Kolkata: TMC’s invincible fort
TMC’s hold remains strong in areas like Kolkata, Howrah and South 24 Parganas. Out of 31 seats in South 24 Parganas, TMC is leading in 30 seats. Urban voters are standing with Mamata Banerjee because of development and welfare schemes in cities.
Jangalmahal: A close fight
A tough contest is being seen between BJP and TMC in Bankura, Purulia, Jhargram and West Medinipur. Corruption and local issues have given the edge to BJP, but TMC is also maintaining its hold. The elections in this zone are likely to be very close.
Central Bengal: Challenge from Left-Congress
The Left-Congress alliance can challenge TMC’s lead in Murshidabad and Malda. However, with the entry of smaller parties, Muslim votes will be divided, due to which BJP is likely to benefit.
