Bengali film Purtawan was screened at India International Film Festival, veteran star Sharmila Tagore played the role of mother.

New Delhi. Actress and producer Rituparna Sengupta has called her experience of working with veteran star Sharmila Tagore in the Bengali film Purtawan a privilege. Along with this, he has also expressed pride in the screening of the film at the India International Film Festival (IFFD) in Delhi. Talking about this collaboration, Sengupta praised Tagore’s everlasting dignity and professionalism. She told how dedicated she is to her work even at the age of 80. She described the veteran actress as gracious, warm and down-to-earth and said her presence on the set provided a sense of belonging and guidance, especially during difficult personal moments.

Actress Rituparna Sengupta said that this is a very interesting thing for me because I am in the film industry. IFFD is a wonderful international platform. I am very proud that my film Purtaavan is being screened here. She also described Tagore’s involvement in the project as an important milestone and said that through this film the actress is making a comeback in Bengali cinema after a gap of 14 years. The film Purtaavan is a mother-daughter story, in which Sengupta plays the daughter opposite Tagore. The film deals with mental health issues, such as dementia, and focuses on human relationships. Sengupta emphasized the deeper meaning of the film and described it as an Indian story that has relevance to the entire world, even though it is based on Bengali language and culture. Talking about Tagore’s association with the project, Sengupta said that the veteran actress was impressed by the sensitivity of the script and expressed her desire to work together. He described Tagore as an artiste who chooses her films very thoughtfully and said that her agreeing to this project is a matter of pride for the entire team. Since then the film has been recognized in many international festivals and has also received many awards. So it’s an honor for us. She came here for the inauguration and loved the script.
