Ruckus in Bengaluru comedy show, TDP supporters apologized to comedian
Days after Andhra Pradesh Police arrested two stand-up comedians for making jokes on actor and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, supporters of the now ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) also disrupted a stand-up comedian’s show. On Saturday, April 25, Hyderabad’s famous stand-up comedian Sharat Uday Boddida was performing his solo comedy show at a place called ‘Ministry of Comedy’ located in Koramangala area of Bengaluru. Suddenly, in the middle of the show, some TDP supporters climbed on the stage and completely disrupted the show.
The CCTV video of this incident is now becoming increasingly viral on social media. It is clearly visible in the video that a person sitting in the front seat suddenly comes on the stage. After that some more people join him. They themselves say that they are around ten people. This incident happened around 6:10 pm. TDP supporters shouted loudly asking Sharat Uday to apologize for the jokes made two years ago on Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and his son, Minister Nara Lokesh.
Comedian apologized
Sharat tried to explain to him that he had already apologized at that time. But the supporters did not agree and continued to press for an apology. Ultimately Sharat Uday was forced to apologize again. Despite this, TDP supporters gave him a ‘final warning’ saying that he should never tell any joke on Chandrababu Naidu, Lokesh or TDP workers in future. He also kept abusing during the show. Once he accused Sharat of joking on the issue of Tirupati Laddu, to which Sharat clearly said that he never told any such joke.
Slogans raised ‘Jai Telugu Desam’
At one point, supporters also asked Sharat to raise slogans of ‘Jai Telugu Desam’, ‘Jai Chandrababu Naidu’ and ‘Jai Lokesh Anna’. But here Sharat Uday made his stand clear and said that now he has apologized, so the supporters should leave the show. When supporters asked whether the ticket money for the show would be refunded, Sharat said yes. But when he asked to show the tickets, the supporters got angry. They started kicking chairs and left the show in anger.
What did Sharat Uday Boddedda say?
In December 2024, when the TDP-Jana Sena-BJP coalition government was formed in Andhra Pradesh, Sharat Uday had uploaded a video named ‘Andhra Politics’. In that video, he made light jokes on the three Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Jana Sena Party (JSP). At that time, after receiving a lot of criticism and threats of legal action, Sharat had also apologized. After the Bengaluru show, Sharat Uday told ‘The News Minute’ that he had completely stopped telling jokes on Andhra Pradesh politicians after that incident. But recently, after the arrest of two other comedians Anudeep Katikala and Rafiq by Andhra Police on charges of making jokes on Pawan Kalyan, TDP and Jana Sena supporters became active again. They started targeting Sharat by re-releasing old videos of him. Sharat alleged that some people had even threatened to beat him. Some social media accounts had also posted information about his upcoming show and demanded Andhra Pradesh Police to take action against him.
