Beyond colors… Holi of colors of the soul
Partho Kunar, COO/Read. Holi should not be just a festival where we apply colors to each other. Holi should be that festival where we get colored in the colors of our soul. Holi of childhood is still as fresh in our memories. His excitement started 15-20 days before the festival. As soon as we returned from school, we friends would wait for the evening. Then together everyone would set out towards the outskirts of the town, with something like a spade or an axe in hand, to collect dry branches and wood. We would collect branches and sticks of dry trees and decorate them at one place as if we were making a cave. By the full moon night, our preparations for Holika Dahan would be completed.
We would also collect cow dung cake, fuel and other materials and inform the people of the locality about the time. The entire event was not just a tradition but a celebration of mutual coordination, cooperation and joy. The methods may have changed with time, but the enthusiasm of Holi is still alive. The spiritual meaning of Holi is much deeper than colors and joy. It is a festival of renewal, forgiveness, equality and joy. In Holika Dahan, we also dedicate our inner negativity, ego and bitterness to the fire. After this the celebration of colors becomes a symbol of the new beginning of life like light after darkness.

A wonderful scene unfolds on the morning of Holi. As if some magic descends in the houses, streets and hearts. Faces are drenched in colours, laughter replaces shyness, and even the distances of years seem to disappear for a day. This liberation is not only external but also internal and this is the spiritual essence of Holi. Colors are not just decorations, they are symbols of emotions and messages. Red symbolizes energy and love, yellow symbolizes faith and purity, green symbolizes prosperity and new beginnings, and blue symbolizes the vastness of the infinite sky. When we apply colors to each other, we unknowingly also share good wishes, belongingness and positivity.
