BGT: India skipper Rohit Sharma injured at training ahead of Boxing Day Test at MCG
New Delhi: India skipper Rohit Sharma suffered an injury on his leg on Sunday while training for the Boxing Day Test against Australia that begins on Thursday at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The 37-year-old was struck on his left knee while facing throwdowns from a team support staff, as per a report in the Times of Indiawhich added that he received medical treatment after batting for a while.
Rohit was in visible pain as he was attended to by the physio, who put an ice pack on the affected area and the knock is not expected to be serious.
With four days to go for the crucial fourth test of the five-match series that is currently locked at 1-1, the entire Indian team attended training on Sunday.
Rohit searching for form
Rohit skipped the first Test at Perth for the birth of his second child. India won the series opener by 295 runs under the captaincy of Jasprit Bumrah.
The right hander returned to the team in the secind match and took over captaincy duties as India lost the day-night Test at Adelaide. The third match was drawn at Brisbane and rain washed away a major chunk of action with India getting dominated throughout the time action was possible.
Rohit has endured a prolonged dry spell with the bat, starting from the Bangaldesh series at home. In Adelaide, he managed only three and six in two innings, followed by only 1o in the first innings at the Gabba.
