Important announcements have been made recently regarding the construction of a new airport in Bhagalpur. The Bihar government has canceled the proposed airport at Goradih and selected new sites at Sultanganj and Akbarnagar. This decision has been taken after ground inspection conducted by the local administration and the Directorate of Civil Aviation.

land selection process

The district administration of Bhagalpur had earlier selected land for the airport in Goradih area, but during measurement of the land there, it was found that the available land was inadequate for the construction of the airport. After this, the administration has sent a proposal for 855 acres and 833.5 acres of land in Sultanganj and Akbarnagar.

Importance of Sultanganj and Akbarnagar

• Sultanganj: The proposed airport here is near Ajgaibinath Dham, which is famous for religious tourism. With the construction of the airport, the number of devotees and tourists coming here is likely to increase.
• Akbarnagar: This area is also being considered suitable for an airport, although it was kept out of selection due to the problem of flooding here.
