What is the secret of Mangal Bhandare?
Mangal Bhandara of Lucknow is a symbol of Ganga-Jamuni culture, which started about 200 years ago. It is believed that this tradition was started by a Muslim king. According to some stories, Nawab Wajid Ali Shah of Lucknow first organized a Bhandara outside the ancient Hanuman temple of Aliganj.
According to the stories, Nawab Wajid Ali Shah’s son was unwell, due to which he was very sad. He was ready to do anything to improve his son’s health. During that time someone advised him that he should go to the ancient Hanuman temple and pray. After this the Nawab went to the temple and prayed for his son. By the grace of Hanuman ji, his son’s health got better. Happy with this, Nawab Wajid Ali Shah organized a Bhandara on Tuesday. This tradition of Bhandara continues even today.
