BharatPe settles fund misappropriation case with Ashneer Grover

New Delhi� New Delhi: After a long and dramatic court battle, BharatPe on Monday said it has reached a settlement with its former co-founder Ashneer Grover, who was owed Rs 88.67 crore by the fintech company along with his family members. Was accused of alleged misappropriation of funds. In a statement to IANS, the company said that as part of the agreement, Grover will no longer be associated with BharatPe in any capacity nor will he hold any part of the company's shareholding. BharatPe further said that both the parties have decided not to pursue the filed cases further.

“We wish Grover all the best. BharatPe continues to focus on delivering industry-leading solutions to its merchants and customers, driving growth along with profitability,” the company said. In a post on the X social media platform, Ashneer said he had “reached a definitive agreement with BharatPe”. “I express my confidence in the management and the board, who are doing a great job in taking BharatPe forward in the right direction. I am closely associated with the growth and success of the company,” Ashneer said. The cases filed by both parties Have decided not to proceed further. I am hopeful that BharatPe will continue to grow and succeed for the benefit of all its stakeholders,” he posted.

BharatPe had approached the high court, months after Ashneer Grover and his wife Madhuri Jain Grover were ousted from the company over allegations of misappropriation of funds. In its 2,800-page suit, BharatPe claimed damages of Rs 88.67 crore from Ashneer, his wife and his brother for alleged fraud and misappropriation of funds. Last week, the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police had arrested Deepak Gupta, a family member of BharatPe co-founder Ashneer, in a case of misappropriation of company funds. Deepak Gupta has been named in the FIR lodged in May 2023 against Ashneer, his wife and his family member. Earlier, another accused in this case, Amit Bansal, was also arrested by EOW.
