Payment dispute amid success of ‘Bhoot Bungalow’, vendors made serious allegations

Ekta Kapoor recently praised her film ‘Bhooth Bangla’ a lot. On Wednesday, he praised the film’s lead actor Akshay Kumar, director Priyadarshan and all the other star cast on his Instagram account. He thanked everyone personally. The film ‘Bhoot Bangla’ was released on 17 April. After its release, this film is doing very good business all over the world. Till now it has earned more than Rs 211 crore. Ekta Kapoor especially thanked director Priyadarshan and told him that this film has proved to be the biggest hit of her career so far. But behind the success of the film, some sad news is also coming out.

According to a report in Mid-Day News, many small and big vendors working in the making of the film have made serious allegations against the production house. He says that even though the film has been released and has become a hit at the box office, he is still not getting his due money. A vendor has claimed that he still owes Rs 30 lakh. The second vendor said that his Rs 18 lakh has not been paid yet. These vendors say that the outstanding amount is continuously increasing because payment is not being made.

When should payment be made?

It has been told in the report that nowadays this problem has become very common in the film industry. After the release of the film, the crew members and vendors find it very difficult to recover their money. Earlier there was a rule to pay the bills within 90 days, but now this rule is not being followed strictly. A vendor also alleged that lead actors and big crew members are given priority in payment, while people doing small jobs keep waiting for months. Amidst all these allegations, Balaji Motion Pictures has given clarification.

This has happened before too

The company has said that it has completed all the contractual payments related to all its films. Another incident came to light this week. Nikhil Pai, the second camera operator of the film ‘Tu Ya Main’, while tagging the production house ‘Color Yellow Productions’ on his Instagram story, wrote that the film has been released in theaters and on Netflix, congratulations, but please pay my bill soon. This is long overdue. A source from Color Yellow Productions said that they are working on the matter.

Payment is made in installments

In films, payment is usually made in installments. Some people have not yet received the last installment. He told that sometimes the whole process takes more time because there are hundreds of crew members in the film who have to be paid. Some people have still not received their 8% share of the total payment. The company says other people who are owed money are in touch and the matter is being resolved.
