Bhooth Bangla Worldwide Box Office: Akshay Kumar’s Horror-Comedy Hits Rs 200 Crore Milestone
The reunion of Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan has proven to be a goldmine at the box office. Their latest collaboration, Bhooth Bangla, has officially crossed the ₹200-crore mark worldwide on its 13th day of release.
This achievement solidifies the film’s position as a major success in the 2026 cinematic calendar and a significant entry in the increasingly popular horror-comedy genre.
Domestic Performance and Second-Week Resilience
Since its release on April 17, Bhooth Bangla has maintained a steady grip on the Indian market. After an impressive opening weekend that saw earnings of ₹58 crore net, the film reached the ₹100-crore milestone by its second Saturday. Despite the natural mid-week dip, the film added ₹3.50 crore net on its second Wednesday.
Currently, the domestic tally stands at ₹124.50 crore net (approximately ₹147.90 crore gross). While the film faces upcoming competition from high-profile releases like The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Raja Shivaji, trade analysts expect a slight uptick in collections during its third weekend.
Global Reach and International Success
The film’s international performance has played a crucial role in pushing it past the ₹200-crore finish line. After a slow start during paid previews, Bhooth Bangla gained momentum, earning $1 million over its opening weekend in overseas territories.
As of day 13, the overseas gross stands at $5.6 million. While international daily earnings have slowed to under $80,000, the film is on track to hit the $6 million mark before concluding its theatrical run. Total worldwide collections currently sit at a neat ₹200 crore, making it the third Hindi film of 2026 to achieve this feat.
Breaking Records in the Horror-Comedy Genre
Bhooth Bangla has officially climbed the ranks to become the 4th-highest-grossing horror-comedy in Bollywood history. In a remarkable second-week run, it surpassed the lifetime collections of several major hits, including:
- Stree (₹180 crore)
- Thamma (₹171 crore)
- Sikandar (₹176 crore)
The film now trails only Stree 2, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. It is also expected to overtake the worldwide total of Prabhas’ The RajaSaab (₹208 crore) in the coming days.
The Return of the Priyadarshan-Akshay Duo
The success of Bhooth Bangla marks a triumphant return for Priyadarshan to Hindi cinema after a five-year hiatus. It also celebrates his first collaboration with Akshay Kumar in 14 years. The film features a stellar ensemble cast, including Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Mithila Palkar, blending nostalgic comedic timing with modern horror elements.
