Now whatever big Hindu leaders are left in Assam Congress, they are either descendants of some political royal family or their politics is dependent on non-Hindu votes. pic.twitter.com/QeIxanxTtZ

Many Congress leaders will join BJP along with Bhupen.
Speaking to reporters after meeting Bora at his home in Guwahati, Sarma said, ‘Bhupen Bora will join BJP on February 22. Dilip Saikia will work on the details. Along with him, many Congress leaders from Guwahati and North Lakhimpur will join BJP.
When a worker has been associated with Congress for 34 years and then leaves the party, it means that there is something wrong there. For example, a leader who has hurt the Sanatanis of Assam is brought to the spiritual center of Assam to stay. pic.twitter.com/qGtdwxaPUp

Calling Bhupen Bora ‘the last known Hindu leader in the Congress’, the Chief Minister termed his entry into the BJP as a ‘homecoming’. He said the party’s national leadership has approved the move and Bora will be provided ‘due respect and dignity’.
A day earlier, Bora had talked about withdrawing his resignation from Congress.
The announcement comes just a day after Bora dramatically withdrew his resignation from the Congress following internal talks with senior leaders. His short-lived resignation had exposed the ongoing tension within the Assam Congress, with Bora indicating disagreement over party decisions.
