Bhuvneshwar Kumar completes 200 IPL wickets, enters exclusive two-man club
Bhuvneshwar Kumar became the second bowler to take 200 wickets in the history of the Indian Premier League. He achieved the milestone in the RCB vs CSK match in IPL 2026 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday.
He dismissed Ayush Mhatre in the second over of Chennai Super Kings’ run chase on April 5. Yuzvendra Chahal, who is associated with the Punjab Kings in the ongoing 19th season, is the first bowler to reach the 200-wicket mark in the cash-reach league.
Fast bowler Bhuvneshwar has also picked up 90 T20I wickets for the Indian National Cricket Team and is seventh on the list of Indian bowlers with the most wickets in the shortest format.
Bhuvi has been phenomenal for the Bengaluru-based franchise since joining the squad from the previous season of the tournament. RCB bought him in the mega auction, and he played a key role in the team’s success last year.
The team management is relying on him to provide breakthroughs in the powerplay overs in the absence of Josh Hazlewood, who hasn’t recovered from his injury.
The right-arm speedster needs to perform consistently to lead the Royal Challengers Bengaluru to their second title. Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians are the only two franchises that have successfully defended their titles in the past.
Bengaluru started the new edition with a convincing win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad at home.
Bhuvneshwar has been a part of Pune Warriors India, Sunrisers Hyderabad and RCB in the Indian Premier League.
