Latest News :- Well-known economist and Chairman of the Economic Advisory Council of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bipak Debroy passed away today (Friday). He is 69 years old. Who is Babagh Debroy: Babagh Debroy completed his schooling from Ramakrishna Mission School, Narendrapur and his higher education from Presidency College, Kolkata, Delhi School of Economics and Trinity College, Cambridge. He has worked at Presidency College, Kolkata, Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune, Indian Foreign Trade Agency, Delhi and served as Director of the Finance/UNDP Program on Legal Reforms.

Padma Shri awardee Bipak Debroy worked in the Department of Economic Affairs from 1994 to 1995, at the National Council for Cultural Economics Research from 1995 to 1996 and at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Contemporary Research from 1997 to 2005. An expert in macroeconomics and public finance, Bipak Debroy has written widely on economic reforms, governance and the railway sector. He is also known for his translations of classical Sanskrit texts including the Mahabharata and the Bhagavad Gita.
