Chahal told on AB de Villiers’ YouTube show that he has completely given up drinking alcohol. He said that he has not even touched alcohol for the last 6 months. De Villiers also praised this decision of Chahal and applauded. Fitness has now become the biggest priority for 35 year old Yuzvendra Chahal. He said, “I am 35 years old, so now I have to take more care of my body. I want to give 150 percent for my team and want the young players to learn something from me.”
Recalling the last IPL season, Chahal said that the absence of Marco Jansen in the final had cost the team heavily. Jansen returned to his country to prepare for the World Test Championship. Chahal believes that if he had been in the final, Punjab Kings could have won their first title.
Along with this, Chahal made another big revelation. He told that he was suffering from serious injury during the last season. He suffered fractured ribs after the match against Kolkata Knight Riders, and later also fractured his finger (knuckle). Due to this, he was not able to perform his natural leg-spin in the semi-finals and final. Now Chahal’s entire focus is on fitness, so that he can play an important role in helping Punjab Kings win their first title in IPL 2026.
