Big achievement for the Indian community in America, Sunny Reddy elected co-chairman of Michigan Republican Party

Washington, December 8. Indian American entrepreneur and community leader Sunny Reddy has been elected co-chair of the Michigan Republican Party. This is a major success for the Indian community amid tough political competition in America. Michigan Republican Party Chairman Jim Runestad said he had made the decision regarding the co-chair very thoughtfully. He praised Sunny Reddy for his rare combination of grassroots energy, outreach to donors and personal integrity.

“Someone who’s a hard worker, and honestly, I don’t know a more hard-working person than Sonny. He’s been in every part of the state of Michigan. He cares about every part of the state of Michigan,” Runestad said. Runestad said Reddy’s influence runs deep in Michigan’s Indian American community. “I couldn’t believe we had an event. 600 people, their families, came to take Sunny Reddy’s photo. He’s like the biggest celebrity in the entire Indian community,” he said.

Runestad described Reddy as the nicest man he had ever met and said he often heard from Sunny that he quietly provided for the needs of the community without attracting attention. The motion to close the nominations and approve Reddy was unanimously adopted and the people present in the room unanimously responded in the affirmative. Jim Runestad reported the result with unanimous consent. Sunny became emotional while coming on the stage after the announcement of co-chairman. He explained what this means for Indian Americans in Michigan.

“Can you believe it? I am the first person, an Indian American, the first person to be elected to any office as a Republican in Michigan,” Sunny said. He promised to work hard every day along with party leaders. “We are heading into one of the most important election years in Michigan history. President Trump is fighting to bring back America’s strength and security, but Democrats are determined to stop him. Michigan is the number one target for the RNC and the Democrats,” Reddy said.

Important elections are to be held in Michigan in the coming time, including the seats of Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, US Senate and several Board of Education. “As co-chair, my commitment is simple. I will work very hard to help us win. I will raise resources, support candidates, and help build a strong Republican team for President Trump and Michigan,” Reddy said.

“Unity, discipline and determination will pave the way for the party’s victory in 2026,” he said. The rapidly growing Indian American population in Michigan is one of the most politically active communities. Reddy has not only made his mark on the political scene, but he has also made his name in social service, which includes raising millions of dollars for COVID-19 relief, disaster relief and to help the families of first responders.
