Mathura, 27 December. Strict police action continues against criminals in Mathura district of UP. Late on Friday night, the joint team of Sadar Bazar police station and SWAT team achieved a major success near Clancy School. In the encounter, a notorious robber and thief named Akash alias Malinga (35 years) was injured by a bullet in his leg. The police immediately arrested him and admitted him to the district hospital.
According to the information about the incident, the police team was doing regular checking at around 10.20 pm. An attempt was made to stop a suspected motorcyclist. Finding himself surrounded, the criminal started firing lethally at the police. The police retaliated in self-defence, injuring Malinga and he was captured. No policeman was injured.
The arrested Akash alias Malinga is originally a resident of Chamrauli (Ekta police station) of Agra district. A total of 23 cases of serious crimes like theft, robbery, section 307 (murderous assault) are registered against him in various police stations of Agra and Mathura. He was wanted in a theft/robbery case (section 309(4) BNS) recently registered at Police Station Sadar Bazar. According to the police, Malinga is a vicious and dangerous criminal, who committed many crimes in Mathura-Agra division.
After the encounter, the police recovered many items from him. These included a Hero HF Deluxe motorcycle without number plate, a yellow metal chain, two rings and a Maang Tika (jewellery), Rs 1250 in cash, a 315 bore pistol, 3 spent cartridges and 2 live cartridges.
The police team is now busy searching for Malinga’s other associates and his old criminal network. The inquiry is expected to reveal many old cases. Several encounters have taken place in the district in recent months, in which wanted criminals have been injured or arrested. Police say that criminals will not be tolerated at any cost.
