Maharashtra: Mumbai Police has taken a major action by uncovering an alleged conspiracy to target the Muharram procession. Police arrested a suspect and recovered 14,900 capsules from his possession. Investigative agencies claim that these capsules were filled with rat poison, which were allegedly planned to be distributed among the people participating in the procession. According to the police, he was staying in a guest house in Dongri area of ​​Mumbai for the last few days. Zinc Phosphide Capsules

Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had purchased about 50 kg of zinc phosphide, which is a poisonous substance used to kill rats.

According to the police, he worked hard for several days and packed this poison in capsules. Each capsule contained approximately one gram of zinc phosphide. Police say that the accused was planning to prepare about 30 thousand capsules, but he was caught before that.

Revealed after complaint of deteriorating health

According to the police, around 4 am a person complained of vomiting and stomach ache. After receiving the information, the police came into action and detained the suspect. During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed his intention. After this, a large number of poisonous capsules were recovered from his hideout.

Traveled to Iran and Iraq several times

Investigation has also revealed that the accused has gone to Iran and Iraq several times between 2019 and 2025. According to the police, in the last one year alone he traveled to these countries 19 times. Now officials are deeply investigating the purpose of these trips and possible contacts.

Police have registered a case against the accused under various sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS), including charges related to causing harm by poisoning and attempt to murder. The investigating agencies are examining the mobile phone, digital records, bank transactions and contacts of the accused.
