Big action in Randhawa suicide case: Former minister Laljit Bhullar arrested, surrenders himself in Mandi Gobindgarh

Chandigarh/Amritsar. A major development has come to light in the suicide case of Punjab Warehouse Corporation District Manager Gagandeep Singh Randhawa. Former minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, named in this case, has been arrested. According to sources, he surrendered in Mandi Gobindgarh, after which the police took him to Amritsar.

‘I did not run away, I have faith in the law’-
Before his arrest, Bhullar issued a statement on social media saying that the rumors of his absconding were false. He said that he had full faith in the law and justice system of the country and with this faith he himself surrendered.

Strict stance of CM Bhagwant Mann-
On this matter, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann made it clear that no person breaking the law will be spared. He said that no matter how influential someone is, action will be taken equally on everyone and saving anyone is not the agenda of the government.

Case registered under serious sections-
Police have registered a case against Bhullar, his father Sukhdev Singh and PA Dilbagh Singh under sections like abetment of suicide, intimidation and conspiracy. The deceased’s wife Upinder Kaur has decided not to perform the last rites till the arrest of the accused and has given an ultimatum of 24 hours.

CCTV and video became important evidence-
In the CCTV footage that emerged during the investigation, Randhawa was seen taking poisonous substances. Also, before committing suicide, he had sent a video to his acquaintances, in which he talked about pressure and harassment. Police have included these electronic evidence in the investigation.

Wife made serious allegations, demanded protection-
Upinder Kaur, wife of the deceased, alleged that former minister Bhullar was pressurizing Randhawa to pass the tender. He also claimed that on March 13, Randhawa was assaulted, threatened and forcibly filmed. Distressed by mental torture, he committed suicide. The wife has also demanded security for herself and her children.

Fast investigation, assurance of fair action-
Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that electronic evidence and documents related to the tender are being thoroughly investigated in the case. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also assured a fair investigation and said that whoever is guilty, he will be given strict punishment under the law.
