Big action of CBI in Shubhendu PA murder case: Another accused arrested from Ballia, heavy weapons including American pistol recovered, connection with Muzaffarnagar.
Kolkata. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has got a major success in the investigation of the murder case of Chandranath Rath, personal assistant to the Chief Minister of West Bengal. The agency has arrested another accused from Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. A huge quantity of weapons and cartridges have been recovered from the arrested accused, which are being linked to this famous murder case.
The arrested accused has been identified as Naveen Kumar Singh, 35, a resident of Thamhanpura village under Phephna police station area of Ballia district. CBI arrested him in a joint operation with Uttar Pradesh Police. According to officials, the agency had received important clues regarding his alleged role in the murder.
Investigation of weapons used in murder intensified-
Investigating agencies believe that the weapons recovered from Naveen may have been used in the murder of Chandranath Rath. All the weapons have been sent for forensic examination to clarify whether they were used in the crime or not.
Bag full of weapons found from car showroom-
Investigation by CBI and STF revealed that on May 7, notorious criminals Gyanendra Pratap Singh alias Mannu, Raj Kumar Singh and Golu Singh had come to meet Naveen. During interrogation, Naveen told that later Mannu had handed him a bag full of weapons.
On his information, STF recovered the bag from a car showroom located along the National Highway. Three pistols, two revolvers, 45 live cartridges of .32 bore, three empty cartridges and a mobile phone were recovered from the bag. One of the recovered pistols is said to be American made.
New revelation after the arrest of ‘real’ Raj Singh-
Meanwhile, the CBI has filed a petition in the court demanding the release of Raj Singh, who was earlier arrested by the SIT of West Bengal Police. Later, CBI arrested the “real” Raj Kumar Singh alias Raj Singh from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh.
Two accused still absconding-
According to the police, Raj Kumar Singh has already been arrested, while Gyanendra Pratap Singh alias Mannu and Golu Singh are still absconding. Continuous raids are being conducted in search of him.
After the arrest, Naveen Kumar Singh was produced in the local court of Ballia, from where he was sent to Mau jail in judicial custody.
It is noteworthy that on May 6, Chandranath Rath was shot dead from very close range in North 24 Parganas district. There is a huge stir in political and administrative circles after this sensational murder.
